Severe chronic respiratory failure in adults due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

The aim of this guide for doctors is to describe the best form of management and the care pathway for a patient admitted to the ALD [Long-term condition] scheme under ALD 14: severe chronic respiratory failure. The guide deals only with the management of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). There is a separate guide for patients with asthma. No relevant guidelines could be used as a basis for a guide on patients with restrictive respiratory failure.
