Summary Tests for antibodies against citrullinated proteins

Focus

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic progressive autoimmune disease affecting the whole body. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis produce anti-citrullinated protein antibodies. Two techniques are used to detect these antibodies: titration of anti-keratin antibodies (AKA) and assay of antibodies against cyclical citrullinated peptides (anti-CCP antibodies).
