Certification is a compulsory independent assessment procedure for the quality and safety of care in public and private hospitals. It is conducted every 4 years by professionals (peers) appointed by the HAS (surveyors).

Vigilance Indicators in Surgery in France
Within the framework of a hospital reform relating to the system of authorizations for healthcare activities, the French Ministry of Health requested that the National Authority for Health define surgery vigilance indicators and methods for implementation to improve patient safety and quality of care. .

World Patient Safety Day, initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO), is being held on 17 September, as it is every year. The theme of the 2023 event - “Engaging patients for patient safety”. As a long-standing promoter of this policy, the HAS works to foster, facilitate and improve healthcare user participation and engagement, whether in its action plans, programmes and tools, or within facilities and their governing bodies.

Towards a European evaluation framework for digital medical devices (DMDs) in the European Union - Launch of a European taskforce
The objective of the European taskforce is to reach a mutual understanding between competent agencies with competences in health technology assessment for digital medical devices (DMDs) at national level, in order to harmonise the assessment criteria in the European Union. The first results of the three work packages were presented at the Digital Medicine Conference in Luxembourg on October 26-27.
Quality of care as perceived by patients – PROMs and PREMs indicators
Three types of measures are used to assess quality of care as perceived by patients, using different tools: Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) for care outcomes, Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs) for the care experience and patient satisfaction questionnaires to assess meeting of their expectations. Based on research published in the literature and numerous illustrations, this report describes the theoretical foundations and methodological approaches, accompanied by practical cases, as well as the challenges relative to quality of care that could be met by proficiency in the use of these solutions. In particular, the aim is to improve communication between patients and professionals, personalise care and more effectively monitor patients' health.
